The Silk Road is still alive in Kyrgyzstan.
The human geography of commerce on the new Silk Road.

Osh Bazaar in Bishkek is so-named because it is on the road from Bishkek to Osh. Osh is an ancient city—about 3000 years old—located in the South of the country, near Uzbekistan. Osh is the center of Islam in Kyrgyzstan, and it is bothered by ethnic cnflict. The prime growing region in th enation, the subtropical Fergana valley is also in Osh Oblast.

Everything is reused here. Instead of caravaserai construction dotting the landscape giving rest to camel trains, the temples of commerce are built of discarded and purloined shipping containers.
